Ten automated border control gates (ABC-gates) have been installed at Luxembourg Airport and were inaugurated by the Luxembourg police on July 26.
In less than a year since the contract has been signed, the site acceptance test (SAT) was successfully performed for the Veridos eGates at Luxembourg Airport. After a rollout phase of four weeks, hardware and software are working stably together to speed up the immigration and emigration process at the border.
Fast and smooth travel experience
With its colorful design and intuitive animations, the system is designed to attract the attention of the traveler immediately. At best, the complete procedure takes less than 14 seconds. Improving passenger flows and service while keeping safe borders was the joint goal of establishing the new ABC-Gates. Passengers traveling to Non-Schengen and arriving from Non-Schengen countries will benefit from the reduced processing time and the spacious, modern area.
The whole system is designed to serve as a blueprint for other eGate projects. The infrastructure and the solution is easily adaptable and reusable can be installed according to the needs of future customers.
The inauguration ceremony
Together with Veridos, the Luxembourg Police and Luxembourg Airport celebrated the inauguration of the eGates on July 26 at the Luxembourg Airport. The ceremony counted with the presence of René Steinhaus (CEO ad Intérim lux-Airport), Tom Weisgerber (Chairman of the Board of Directors at lux-Airport), Francois Bausch (Minister for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure), Etienne Schneider (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy and Internal Security) and Philippe Schrantz (Directeur Général Police Luxembourg). The inauguration was a success, and the installed eGates will improve passenger flow through faster border control processes and will assure enhanced security at the airport.
