Veridos and Prismade Labs Collaborate to Achieve Greater Security for ID Cards

• Veridos and Prismade Labs develop an interactive security feature for ID cards
• For this purpose the companies have agreed on an exclusive development partnership

Berlin, 6 June 2019 – Veridos, a world-leading provider of integrated identity solutions and a joint venture between Giesecke+Devrient and state-owned Bundesdruckerei, has announced the forming of an exclusive development partnership with Prismade Labs GmbH, which is part of edding Group. The objective of this joint development is to integrate Prismade technology into Veridos ID cards and system solutions.

Printed electronics will be used to digitally mark ID cards, enabling them to create interactive interfaces with smartphones. The technology requires neither a chip nor radio waves.

Dr. Silke Bargstädt-Franke, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Management at Veridos, explains: “The integration of Prismade technology into our cutting-edge ID cards enables us to expand our product portfolio in a number of ways. Together, we are developing a new security feature that can be verified even by untrained personnel, with no need for specific readers, and in doing so we are reducing the barriers to digital verification by connecting smartphones in a user-friendly way.”
