Veridos Contracted to Supply Passports to Jordan

Berlin, July 21, 2016 – The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has awarded Veridos a contract to produce and deliver its passports for the next few years. These passports will be machine-readable and meet the requirements laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for international travel. "Giesecke & Devrient, one of our parent companies, has been providing passports to Jordan since 2012. We are very pleased that with this new contract the partnership can continue via Veridos," says Veridos CEO Hans Wolfgang Kunz.

"Giesecke & Devrient, one of our parent companies, has been providing passports to Jordan since 2012. We are very pleased that with this new contract the partnership can continue via Veridos," says Veridos CEO Hans Wolfgang Kunz.

The first batch of identification documents will be handed over to the Civil Status & Passport Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan before the end of this year. All components of the machine-readable passports are provided by Veridos.

Security measures incorporated into the printing mean that the Jordan passports are highly resistant to forgery. For instance, a Printed and Embossed Anti-Copy Key (PEAK©) – a combination of intaglio and offset printing – is being included. When the Peak© area is viewed from different angles, the variable text "HKJ" becomes visible. The Peak© feature can easily be verified by tilting the passport and observing how the light/dark effects react at different viewing angles.
