Veridos joins the Secure Identity Alliance as Board Member

Paris, Berlin, April 19, 2016 – Secure Identity Alliance (SIA) today announces that Veridos, the joint venture between Giesecke & Devrient GmbH, Munich, and Bundesdruckerei GmbH, Berlin, pooling the expertise of the two largest German providers for high-security technologies to serve the international market, has joined the Alliance as a Board Member of the SIA.

Veridos will be a powerful voice in support of the SIA’s objective to accelerate sustainable economic growth through the development of trusted identities and widespread adoption of secure eServices.

"SIA offers us an excellent platform to exchange views with all participants about identity technologies and processes," says Veridos CEO Hans Wolfgang Kunz.

“Identity solutions have penetrated our society worldwide in key areas of life. These include eGovernment services, border inspection processes, eHealth applications or digital voter registration. These solutions must not only be tamper-proof, but they have to fulfil many other aspects such as data protection and convenience. Veridos wants to work with the members of SIA to develop a meaningful and possible globally applicable framework for identity solutions. Veridos will contribute to the discussion as an experienced provider of secure identity solutions for governments around the world. We are looking forward to fruitful discussions within SIA," says Kunz.

Established in 2013, the Secure Identity Alliance is dedicated to supporting sustainable worldwide economic growth and prosperity through the development of trusted digital identities and the widespread adoption of secure eServices. SIA offers support and expertise to allow government agencies and other public bodies to implement their digital ID projects and realize the wide range of economic, public health, electoral and sustainability opportunities offered by the shift to digital service provision.

The Alliance brings together public, private and non-government organizations to foster international collaboration on Digital ID challenges and the issues of data security, citizen privacy, identity, authentication and more.

Commenting on the news, Frédéric Trojani, President of the Secure Identity Alliance said:

“We are delighted to welcome Veridos to the Association. Its experience of working with government and public administration bodies and expertise in the delivery of identity programs across the world will provide vital insights during our own work, and help to guide the agenda as SIA continues to define and promote best practices in integrating digital identity security solutions, respect for privacy and ease of use.
