Georgia’s National ID Document Series supported by Veridos wins high security printing award
Rabat, Morocco / Berlin, Germany, February 12, 2026 – At the High Security Printing (HSP) EMEA Conference in Rabat, Morocco, Georgia was honoured for its ePassport and national ID card with the “Regional ID Document of the Year Award” in the category “Best ID Document Series”. Both documents are produced by Veridos, a leading global provider of integrated identity solutions.
The Regional ID Document of The Year awards of HSP recognize outstanding achievement and technical sophistication in personal identification and travel document programs. They highlight excellence in system infrastructure and the implementation of secure government passport and identity schemes. The award was presented to Georgia for its ePassport and eID card document family, both produced by Veridos. The documents set new benchmarks in security, design and national identity representation.
Developed in close collaboration with the Public Service Development Agency under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and local designer Nino (Nitta) Gongadze, the Georgian ID document family unifies six passport types and four identity cards under a single, coherent design language. The concept combines advanced security features with cultural storytelling, reflecting Georgia’s history, regional diversity and national heritage across the documents.
Security features are embedded directly into the design and include customized security paper with national watermarks, advanced intaglio printing, optically variable inks, and a highly sophisticated polycarbonate data page with multiple overt and covert elements. A layered design approach, including UV-only visual narratives, enhances both protection against forgery and the user experience.

Issued by the Government of Georgia, the project includes the rollout of multimillion identity documents over a ten year period and covers the full system architecture, multiple personalization sites, as well as longterm service and maintenance. The project was signed in 2024 and successfully rolled out within one year. Issuance of the passport documents started in October 2025 and since December the ID cards have been distributed.
